District 52 Training Policy
This document establishing District 52’s training policy was voted on and approved by the District
Executive Council in January 2009, and adopted later that month. The heart of this policy is this:
The standards for all District training must conform to Toastmasters International’s policies.
Why Attend Club Officer Training?
You help your Club by being formally trained for your position. You also gain the opportunity to meet
your District leaders and can network with other club officers in the same position – some with lots of
experience and effective ideas to share. Please bring your Club Officer handbook with you when attending training.
Having four Club Officers trained for each term of service – July to December and January
to June – will fulfill Goal #9 in the Distinguished Club Program (DCP). When all seven Club
Officers are trained, your club earns a prestigious banner ribbon.
Designated Training Sites
All Club Officers’ training will be conducted at the designated District 52 Officer Training sites
listed on the Website and in email notifications. Any exceptions must be approved by Scott Miller,
the 2009-2010 District Governor, before any training takes place (i.e., an Area Governor going to
Clubs to train Club Officers is not acceptable). Only trainers approved by the District will be
allowed to train Club Officers at times or locations other than those set by the published schedule.
For a Club to receive credit, all Club Officers attending training must be listed on the Club Officer
List registered with Toastmasters International. Additionally, each Club Officer must sign the
training log for the office they hold and attend the full training session to receive credit.
Please send your Club Officer List to Toastmasters International by 01 July and 01 January so
training credit can be granted for your Club.
Notes:
All Club Officers should plan on spending at least two hours attending both the District update
and Club Officer training. The first hour is the overview presented at each Toastmasters Learning
Institute (TLI); the second hour is the specific officer training. Note: Presidents and Vice
Presidents of Education training sessions last 1.5 hours; all other Officers should plan
on 1.0 hours of training.
Club Officers that hold the same office in multiple clubs can receive credit for both clubs by attending one training for the office held. Members that hold different Club offices must attend training for each office held to receive credit for each office held.
Club Officer Trainers, if training the club office that they hold, will receive credit for attending training. If the Trainer does not hold the office being trained, then special arrangements will be made with the Lt. Governor of Education & Training for credit.
Any Club Officer that attends a Train the Trainer session will receive credit for attending training.
Train the Trainer Sessions are coordinated with the Lt. Governor of Education & Training. Only District-approved Trainers will be allowed to train officers.
