17. What is the DTM?

DTM stands for "Distinguished Toastmaster." The DTM is the highest award Toastmasters International bestows. It recognizes both communication and leadership skills. The DTM is also the most difficult award to earn.

In order to qualify for a DTM, you must have:
1. Received the Advanced Toastmaster Gold award and all its prerequisite awards;
2. Received the Advanced Leader award and all its prerequisite awards.

You must send Toastmasters International your DTM application to receive the award. Toastmasters International will send you your DTM certificate and at your request a letter of commendation to your employer. You will also receive a plaque and be mentioned in The Toastmaster magazine's Hall of Fame.
