Toastmasters Awards FAQ
The Advanced Leader award is special recognition for Toastmasters club members who have pursued leadership opportunities in their Toastmasters District. Each district offers leadership opportunities as Area Governor, Division Governor, Treasurer, Secretary, Public Relations Officer, Lieutenant Governor, or District Governor.
To receive the AL award, you must have:
1. Received the Competent Toastmaster
award (the prerequisite for the CL);
2. Received the Competent Leader award;
3. Completed the High Performance
Leadership program and received
the Leadership Excellence award;
4. Served a full term as a district officer
(Area Governor, Division Governor,
Treasurer, Secretary, Public Relations
Officer, Lieutenant Governor, or
District Governor);
5. Served successfully as a club sponsor,
club mentor, or club coach.
A club sponsor finds twenty people who wish to start a new Toastmasters club and helps submit the money and paperwork to Toastmasters International. A club mentor regularly attends meetings held by a newly-chartered club to make sure the members follow the Toastmasters educational programs and understand how to administer the week-to-week and month-to month duties of the club. A club coach works with existing clubs with nine members or fewer with experienced assistance needed to survive and rebuild the club to Distinguished Club status. Club sponsors, mentors, and coaches are appointed by the District Governor.
You must send Toastmasters International your AL application to receive the award. Toastmasters International will send you your AL certificate and at your request a letter of commendation to your employer.
