Toastmasters Awards FAQ
As mentioned in the previous FAQs, the development of the Toastmasters club members' communication and leadership skills starts with the Competent Toastmaster award, but it doesn't end there. Members may focus on specializations offered in the fifteen Advanced Communication and Leadership Programs, allowing them to work on either personal or professional development, or both.
Following the completion of the CTM, members may follow the Toastmasters' educational program's communication track or the separate leadership track. Members may choose either track or both of them.
The communication track and leadership track are outlined below:
| Communication Track | Leadership Track |
| Advanced Toastmaster Bronze | Competent Leader |
| Advanced Toastmaster Silver | High Performance Leadership |
| Advanced Toastmaster Gold | Advanced Leader |
Members wishing to earn the Advanced Toastmaster Bronze award or the Competent Leader award must first complete the requirements for the Competent Toastmaster award, send in the signed CTM application, and the Project Completion Record. Members wishing to earn the Advanced Leader Award must have already received their Competent Leader award and finished their special project for the High Performance Leadership designation. Members wishing to earn the Advanced Toastmaster Silver award must have already received their Advanced Toastmaster Bronze award. Finally, members wishing to earn the Advanced Toastmaster Gold award must have already received their Advanced Toastmaster Silver award. The only exceptions to these rules are for those members who have already earned either of the two old-style awards: the Able Toastmaster or the Able Toastmaster Bronze.
The Distinguished Toastmaster award is the highest educational achievement in Toastmasters International. Members may apply for the DTM award after they have earned the Advanced Leader award and the Advanced Toastmaster Gold award. It does not matter in which order the AL and the ATM-G were received; once members have both awards, they may send Toastmasters International their DTM application. Every Toastmasters member should aim to achieve the DTM award.
